My name is Rix White. My goal is to try to learn some primitive skills and record my attempts here. I expect this site to fill up with failures as well as successes, and I hope that both will be beneficial to anyone wanting to try these things for themselves.
I’m no expert, and I’m no purist. I’m just a guy who wants to learn. And I realize that the best way for me to learn right now is by trying.
Please feel free to offer comments, suggestions and criticisms. And if you try any of these experiments for yourself, please let me know how it goes.

Nope, I actually live in Germany now. I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs though :)
I will definitely try eating some cat tails! I love asparagus, I hope they taste like them!

I don’t think they taste like it at all. I’m not sure how the term Cossack’s asparagus came about unless someone thought the young shoots looked like asparagus. Perhaps if you cook them they taste like that? I have only eaten them raw.
rix,
this is cricket. i’ve lurked on your blog occasionally, even posted a long time ago, and from what i have gathered, you live close to new york? i’m moving back to the area after being away for a year. i’d be interested in getting together with rewilding-oriented folks in the area. would you want to meet? go ahead and send me an email if you’re into it..
